Enterprise Support is offered to Brookes students, staff and recent graduates of up to two years for individuals interested in start-ups, social enterprises, social innovation & the Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur Visa scheme. A great start to the semester, with our team connecting students across Oxford Brookes with the support, skills and networks to explore entrepreneurship.

This week, Mim spoke with Business and Management students at Oxford Brookes Business School, in a module led by programme leader Ross Jordan, one of the ways we’re introducing Brookes Enterprise Support across the university. Unai our Start-Up Advisor also kicked off Spark, our six-week programme helping students shape an idea and pitch for £500 grant funding.

At PULSE, founder Adjani joined investors Castellanos, Bloch and Eve for a practical conversation about raising funding when you’re starting with a business idea.

Our next PULSE event is called:
How to Get Money When You Have Nothing But a Startup Idea
One of our speakers is Adrienne Bloch, an entrepreneur, strategic adviser and investor with more than 25 years of commercial experience.
Adrienne has mentored and invested in more than 30 small businesses and has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs develop stronger ideas and prepare for funding.
We will talk about the questions people often have at the very beginning:
What do investors actually want?
How can you make an early idea more credible?
What evidence can you build before you have many customers?
And when should you actually start looking for investment?

We're back!
The new academic year has begun and our students have returned to Oxford Brookes University Brookes. The feel is of new beginnings, new opportunities and the start of something exciting. Lots of feelings running around our Headington campus today and that is just in our team!

We're finalising this semester's programmes, preparing our Freshers' Fair stand for Friday, and gearing up to support students keen to explore business beyond their courses.

Last July we hosted our Spark Summer 2026 online pitch sessions and we are delighted to announce our newest Spark winners!

Congratulations to Asia Sahota, Daniel Wald, Ilaha Mammadova, Abhinandan Patil, and Amir Godil!

The Spark Programme will resume this October for our students, staff and alumni.

Students are already using AI after our sessions.

The interesting question is what happens when we are no longer there to structure the thinking.

Ask AI to “make my Business Model Canvas” or “write my customer interview questions” and it can produce something polished remarkably quickly.

But polished is not necessarily the same as understood, tested or owned by the learner.

That is the idea behind Puzzle Prompts.

Take an enterprise activity you already use.

Find the smaller thinking tasks hidden inside it.
Put them in order.
Turn them into questions.

AI can then help carry some of the repeatable structure while the learner still has to provide the thinking, evidence and decisions.

Educator designs.
AI asks.
Learner builds the answer.

That is what I’ll be working on with delegates at IEEC 2026.

If you use Business Model Canvas, Value Proposition Canvas, market research, customer interviews, assumption testing or pitch practice, bring one activity you already teach and see how you might redesign the route.

Do not give them the answer.
Design the route.
