It Happens Here

An anti-sexual violence campaign led by Oxford University students. Prevent. Protect. Empower. Anyone can be a survivor or a perpetrator of sexual violence. Anyone.

We are an autonomous OUSU campaign dedicated to raising awareness about sexual violence and working with members of the University of Oxford and the wider community to ensure that Oxford is a safe place for all people. People of all genders, sexual orientations, races, cultures, religions. Undergraduates, postgraduates, university staff. We believe that it's time for all of us to join together and

say that sexual violence will not be tolerated in our community. That we will support survivors. That we will educate ourselves about consent. That we will create a culture free from damaging myths. That we will make here a place where change happens. Still I Write is back and we cannot be more excited!

Still I Write is primarily a space for survivors and allies at Oxford to come together and build community. The space is centred around open mic poetry, where people can share their writings. There is no pressure to write or perform anything if you do not want to! We encourage you to come along, even just to listen!!

This term, Still I Write is focused on Intersectionality, foregrounding experiences of sexual violence that do not necessarily fit into an expected norm.

📍 The Nest, Little Clarendon Street
🕑 Tomorrow!! (27th Nov) 7-10pm

This event is in collaboration with the wonderful & .hotmess.project

The Nest operates a Safer Spaces Policy: stickers will be available for attendees to wear to indicate if you do not want to be photographed; there will be a designated safety phone number; there will be a designated quiet space; and staff and committee members will be on hand to support you if you experience any issues at the event. We will also endeavour to provide appropriate content/trigger warnings for work being performed.

Accessibility: The venue is step-free and seating is provided. The lighting is adjustable. Assistance animals are welcome. The toilets are step-free but not accessible by wheelchair; the nearest wheelchair-accessible toilets are at The Oxford Wine Cafe nearby. Please ask a member of staff or committee members if you would like someone to accompany you to The Wine Cafe.

Join our committee and help campaign against sexual violence in Oxford!

We are looking for students who are passionate about preventing sexual violence and supporting survivors to apply for the roles of:

- Policy Officer
- Comms Officer
- LGBTQ+ Rep
- BAME Rep
- Class Rep
- Men*s Rep

Whilst all committee members collaborate on IHH’s work, each role has a specific focus which helps our campaign be as effective and inclusive as possible. Apply, and find out more about the roles, at the link in our bio - applications close 14th November 🙌
