https://recruitment.raf.mod.uk/university-air-squadrons Oxford University Air Squadron exists as a training unit within the Royal Air Force and primarily provides basic flying training, force development and adventurous training (such as skiing, climbing, parachuting) to undergraduate students at the universities of Oxford, Oxford Brookes and Reading. The squadron also takes part in charity work a

nd many varied sporting activities, including competitions against the other UAS' from across the UK. The squadron is attached to RAF Benson where the flying takes place and has a Town Headquarters in Oxford where weekly training nights are held.

5 OUAS student representatives visited RAF Cranwell for the Annual 6FTS Symposium, where they were briefed about this year's triumphs and volunteering across the UAS squadrons. Each UAS across the country attended this event, where student had some inter UAS competition consisting of sport, event planning and force protection skills.

The event culminated in a formal dinner hosted at the International Bomber Command Centre as well as some interesting insightful talks from various guest speakers such as JET and The Ulysses Trust , providing useful contacts for future careers.

Our own Senior student of 2026 was awarded best all around Officer Cadet, what an achievement.

Adventure Training is about pushing yourself to discover your own limits, building resilience and gaining self-confidence.

In the past we have been mountain biking in Slovenia and Mountain Climbing Via ferrata in the Dolomites. Not only will these opportunities be made available to you, but as a member of OUAS you can take part in the Joint Service Adventure Training Scheme where you can bid for slots on many different AT courses such as skiing, sailing, gliding and parachuting once you have established yourself as a committed member of the Squadron.

Get out there. Go further. Make memories. Some courses can result in Instructional qualifications.

At OUAS we develop leadership and teamwork to challenge individuals to build skills for your future careers whether thats in the RAF or not.

From fundraising challenges to supporting larger charity events, OUAS brings people together by helping others.

This year has been our best, with half marathons completed all over the UK, local car washes and assisting the British Legion Poppy Appeal.
