🏥✨ Another fabulous placement opportunity for our UWS Adult Nursing & Community Health students! 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️
We’re delighted to showcase the Golden Jubilee Hospital, which opened in 1994 and became part of the NHS in 2003. Today, it is a major national centre for orthopaedics, heart surgery and eye care ❤️🦴👁️
Although it doesn’t have an A&E department, the hospital treats over 55,000 patients each year and is part of NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. It also hosts the NHS Academy as part of Public Service Delivery Scotland. 🌟
We’re especially proud to see our alumni Carol and Mhairi, once UWS students and now registered nurses at the Golden Jubilee, welcoming and supporting the next generation of nurses! 💙👩‍⚕️👩‍⚕️

✨ What a fantastic day at the RCN Conference!✨

The Department of Adult Nursing & Community Health at UWS were delighted to be involved in the RCN Conference on 15th September, held at the Technology and Innovation Centre (TIC), University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. 💙

✨ Happy Wednesday, everyone! ✨

We’ve officially reached the halfway mark of our first full week of teaching!🎓📚🙌

Our postgraduate inductions are well underway 🎉, while our undergraduate students are getting started with their mandatory training 🩺❤️‍🩹

This includes training in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Immediate Life Support (ILS) essential skills to help prepare our students for their future practice learning experiences. 🚑🫀

We make sure all mandatory training is completed within the first few weeks, so our students are practice-ready and confident when they head out into their placements! 💪✨

It’s a busy start to the academic year, but it’s fantastic to see everyone settling in, learning new skills and getting ready for the year ahead! 🥰🎓

✨ Day 4 of Induction Week!✨

What a day! 💙 Today’s Freshers’ Fair was absolutely buzzing, with students filling the campus and making the most of all the opportunities, support and connections on offer! 🎓🤝

The UWS Paisley Nursing Society was on hand for chats, coffee ☕, advice and plenty of friendly faces — helping our new and returning students feel right at home. 🩺💙

Our amazing Campus Leads were also there supporting our final-year students through what may be their last ever induction 🥹🎓 — making the day feel even more special.

The sense of community, connection and love at UWS was truly palpable today. 💙✨

We had over 60 soon-to-be BSc Adult Nursing students on campus today for our Welcome Day! 👋✨

It was a fantastic opportunity for our new students to meet their lecturers, get to know each other, and ask lots of questions about the programme and the amazing experience that lies ahead. 📚🩺💫

We’re so excited to welcome you to the nursing community and can’t wait to see you grow, learn and thrive! 💙

📅 7th September can’t come soon enough, when we’ll be welcoming all our new and continuing students from across all our programmes back to campus! 🎓🙌

We were delighted to be invited to the Scottish Care Conference in Glasgow this week! 🏴✨

Our students in Adult Nursing and Community Health have fabulous opportunities to attend these invaluable conferences, where this year the focus was on care and belongingness in nursing. 💙👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

It was a fantastic day of networking, sharing information, learning, and making connections with others across the care sector. 🤝📚💬

Here at UWS, we aim to provide our students with unique and invaluable experiences that enrich their learning and prepare them for their future careers. 🌟🎓

A huge thank you to our wonderful students who attended and represented our programmes so brilliantly, you were fantastic role models! 👏💙

✨ We were delighted to be in attendance at the annual SIMposium Conference 2026 hosted by the Clinical Skills Managed Education Network (CSMEN) and held at our very own Lanarkshire Campus!🩺🎓

Our Head of Department , Dr Debbie Waddell, was there to warmly welcome delegates from a wide range of healthcare, skills and simulation backgrounds. 🤝

It was a real honour to hear from Catie Paton, National Clinical Lead for Simulation, Public Service Delivery Scotland, and Dr Victoria Brazil, Medical Director of the Simulation Service at Gold Coast Health Service, who shared insightful perspectives on the sustainability of simulation and its future within healthcare education. 🌍💡

We also enjoyed a fantastic programme of engaging and informative workshops, including Virtual Enhanced Mental Simulation (VEMS) and exciting escape room activities. 🧠🔍🚪

A special thank you to Katie and Sharon for making us all feel so welcome and for their fantastic support throughout the day. 💙

The future of simulation is certainly looking bright! ✨🔮
