🎓✨ Today, we were delighted to welcome pupils from Hermitage Academy, Dumbarton Academy, St Ninian’s High School, Johnston High School, and Trinity High School to our Foundation Academy event in adult nursing community and health at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS)! 🏫💙

This innovative event gives school pupils the opportunity to experience what life as a university student is like, and today we had the pleasure of introducing them to the world of Nursing, Community and Health 🩺🌟.

From engaging activities to exploring future career pathways, the day was a huge success! 🙌✨

A special thank you to the wonderful senior pupils who attended today. Your enthusiasm, kindness, and positive attitude made the event truly memorable, and it was fantastic to see you embrace every opportunity throughout the day 👏😊.

🌍✈️ Our team are back in Scotland, but what an incredible experience they had at the University of Gibraltar Student Nurse Conference! 🇬🇮🩺

Nikola, Chloe Gaynor and Tom from our Year 2 BSc Adult Nursing programme, along with their lecturers Nick and Veronica, spent three amazing days travelling, networking and presenting at an international conference. 🎓✨

We are so proud of this fantastic achievement and the way they represented our university on the international stage. 🌟👏

A huge thank you to the UWS Development Fund for supporting this trip. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of the kind donors whose contributions made this valuable opportunity possible. 💙🙏

Our sincere thanks also go to Dr James Vinales and his colleagues for inviting us and being such wonderful hosts. 🤝🏽🏫

🌍🇬🇮 Day 2 in Gibraltar with our Part 3 BSc Adult Nursing students! 💙🩺
What an incredible day of exploring and preparing for the Student Nurse Conference! ✨
Today we:
🐒 Met the famous Gibraltar monkeys
⛰️ Climbed to the top of the Rock of Gibraltar and enjoyed breathtaking views
🐬 Went dolphin spotting in the bay
🎶 Took in a fantastic pipe band performance
📸 Made some amazing memories together
As well as exploring this beautiful place, we've been putting the finishing touches to our conference presentation. 🎓💡
Tomorrow is the big day as we proudly present our work all the way from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 to our new friends and colleagues here in Gibraltar 🇬🇮🤝

With the sun shining brightly ☀️ and stunning surroundings to explore 🌊🏰, our students have had an amazing start to this exciting experience. From discovering this beautiful destination to connecting with fellow student nurses and healthcare professionals 🤝📚, it's already proving to be an invaluable opportunity.
Attending conferences like this allows our future nurses to expand their knowledge 🧠, gain new perspectives 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️, and build professional networks that will support their careers for years to come. 🌟

📚✨ While the majority of our students are out on placement 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️, we’ve had the opportunity to focus on module development and ensure our teaching reflects current healthcare issues, trends, and best practice using the very best resources. 🌍💡

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been busy developing content for our clinical skills modules 🩺🎥, incorporating simulation and video-based teaching methods to create engaging and authentic learning experiences.

A huge thank you to our colleagues from practice 🙌 for taking time out of their incredibly busy roles to support us, quality assure our resources, and even put their Oscar-worthy acting skills 🎭🏆 to good use!

We can’t wait to share these new resources with our students in AY 2026/27 and see them come to life in the classroom and simulation suite. 🚀✨

🌟 We kicked off our Undergraduate Summer Open Days at our Paisley Campus and loved welcoming applicants and everyone interested in a career in 🩺 Nursing and Healthcare! 💙
Our team was on hand throughout the day to offer support, answer questions, and share insights into studying with us. 🙌
A huge thank you to our Adult Nursing and Mental Health Nursing lecturers, who were available to chat with visitors, alongside two of our fabulous BSc Nursing students, 🌟 Rachael and Jen, who shared their experiences of student life and learning with us. 👏💙
