Attending the Provincial Grand Conclave (and Provincial Grand Senatus of the Order of the Scarlet Cord) in the province of South Wales and Monmouthshire

On Tuesday the 14th of April, Charles Hinitt Conclave 283, who meet in Northfield, conducted a double Prince's degree for Brother Nick Clarke and Brother Alastair Kennedy-Rose. The ceremony was conducted by Very Worthy Brother Mike Saxon in his last full meeting as Supreme Ruler and it was a pleasure to see Very Worthy Brother Reg Whilsher to deliver the lecture to the candidates.

The conclave's next meeting is the third Thursday in September and will see the installation of Bro. Martin Preece as their new Supreme Ruler.

A message from our Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler and Provincial Grand Recorder

Very Dear Brethren

Many of you will have already heard of the death this morning of M.W.Bro. John Herbert Prizeman, the Pro Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of England and Wales and its Districts and Lodges Overseas, and of the Degree of the Ancient and Honourable Fraternity of Royal Ark Mariner. He was also a Past Provincial Grand Master of the Mark Province of Hampshire & Isle of Wight.

Whilst Mark and RAM Masons will feel his loss greatly, our thoughts must be with his wife, their family and close friends at this most difficult time.

As Pro Grand Master, M.W.Bro. John did much to improve the relationship between U.G.L.E. and the companion orders administered at Mark Masons Hall, and was even invited to speak at a Quarterly Communication at Freemasons’ Hall. This was to the great benefit of our Order of the Secret Monitors, as well as the other companion orders, as evinced by the closer relationship we enjoy with the Craft and Royal Arch in Worcestershire.

R.Wy.Bro. John Prizeman was a member of our Order; Inducted into Peteresfeld Conclave No 412, meeting at Botley, in 2005 and becoming S.R. in 2011. He held a number of Provincial Offices and Ranks in Hampshire & Isle of Wight before being appointed P.G.Swd.B. in 2016, and P.G.Coun. in 2023.

R.Wy.Bro. Bob Vaughan, our Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler, feels it is appropriate for us in Worcestershire OSM, conscious of the work of R.Wy.Bro. John Prizeman on behalf of our Order, remember those words in the address to the Candidate, that "now the shadows of this transitory life have faded to the realities of the life to come, he may be received into the Grand Conclave above, over which the Grand Supreme Ruler of All presides, where distress and sorrow are no more, and where all is harmony and peace."

On Tuesday the 13th of January Sabrina Conclave 486 saw the installation of Worthy Brother Ryan Bird as Supreme Ruler. The ceremony was conducted by the outgoing Supreme Ruler, his father Worthy Brother Terry Bird.

This marks at least the third Order in which Terry has installed Ryan which we think is pretty special.

On Tuesday the 16th of December Charles Hinett Conclave 283 rounded off the year with a double induction.

The weapons were presented by Bro. Andy Davies and the charge to the inductees by our DepProvGSR, Wy.Bro Dr Howard Carlton.

On Remembrance Sunday 2025 the Order of the Secret Monitor was represented across the county of Worcestershire as our members proudly laid wreathes at their local ceremonies.

On Friday the 31st of October our ProvGSR, R.Wy.Bro. Robert Vaughan was installed into the chair of Ted Meredith Conclave, the Provincial Supreme Rulers' Conclave for Worcestershire and Warwickshire. This took place at King's Heath Masonic Hall and it appears a good time was enjoyed by all.

On Saturday the 18th of October brethren from Worcestershire attended the installation of R.Wy.Bro Trevor Conroy as Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler for the province of Cornwall.

Amongst the Grand Arch of Steel were three Worcestershire brethren who did us proud.

On Saturday the 27th of September brethren from the province of Worcestershire attended the installation of Right Worthy Brother Ian Bennett as Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler of the Order of the of Secret Monitor in the province of Staffordshire and Shropshire. R.Wy.Bro Ian appointed Wy.Bro David Kettle as his deputy.

Masonic connections abound as he was installed by Most Worthy Brother Andrey Sweeney who is the head of our order and is a Worcestershire mason. Also involved in the installation was Very Worthy Brother Graham Holden who is the Provincial Grand Summus for the Order of the Scarlet Cord in the Midlands Counties. Pictured at the festive board are M.Wy.Bro. Andrew Sweeney, R.Wy. Bro. Bob Vaughan (Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler for Worcestershire) and Wy.Bro. David Kettle, all of whom have been Worshipful Masters of Masonic Lodges in Worcestershire.
