An important message from our friends at the Peterborough and District Labour Council:

"Our striking siblings from OPSEU Local 358 are asking us to call on you - our affiliates, their members and our community allies, to email management at Community Living Trent Highlands urging them to accept the path forward in negotiations offered by OPSEU’s bargaining team. This path is in the best interests of the workers and their clients the workers so deeply care for.

Specifically, please email Community Living Trent Highlands Executive Director, Teresa Jordan at [email protected] and the Director of HR, Steve Burke at [email protected]

The local is in its 10th week of this strike. Stay up to date on their picket line by following their page.

For Our Grandchildren, whose "mission is to engage and mobilize our community to take effective action to combat climate change," is holding an event, Singing for Freedom and the Planet, on Sunday, June 28th, at Nichols Oval Park (725 Armour Rd), from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Be there to experience a wonderful performance of jazz, folk, and blues from Faith Nolan.

The next Fighting Ford rally is taking place in Peterborough (and across Ontario) tomorrow, June 27th, starting at 1:00 pm at 864 Chemong Rd. And do note the locations and times of the other rallies if you are not in town.

The Canadian government has been prioritizing the profits of oil and gas companies over the safety of our communities, the survival of our wildlife, and the future of our planet.
