Our Animal Care students welcomed Durham Bat Group for a guest talk as part of their wildlife rehabilitation and conservation studies 🦇

A huge thank you to Debbie for sharing her knowledge and bringing along Ethel, a bat currently in their care - it was a great opportunity for students to learn more about bat conservation and the work involved in protecting our local wildlife!

Know a young person considering T Levels and want to find if that's the right choice for them?

As National T Levels Week 2026 approaches, Amazing Apprenticeships are hosting a webinar for parents and carers to help them understand what T Levels involve, how they differ from other post-16 study options and the progression opportunities they can lead to.

The webinar will be joined by David Scott, T Levels lead at the Department for Education and parent Victoria, who will share her experience of T Levels from a parents' perspective.

Event if you can't attend on the day - registering your interest means you'll receive access to the webinar recording and presentation slides!

Our Arboriculture students are now even better equipped for success thanks to their 20 new chainsaws, donated by Husqvarna 🪚🌲

Access to professional equipment means our students can gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools, ensuring they're career-ready when they enter the workplace!

A huge thank you to the team at Husqvarna for generously supplying these tools to our learners and helping support the next generation of arborists.

🐾✂️ Welcome to the new Houghall College Dog Grooming page! ✂️🐾

We’re excited to introduce our new page, where we’ll be sharing the fantastic work, progress and achievements of our budding dog groomers at East Durham College – Houghall Campus! 🐶💙

Our students are currently studying the City & Guilds Level 2 Dog Grooming Assistants course, having only started their journey with us in September. 🎓🐾

Although they’re still in the early stages of their training, they’re already developing their practical skills, building confidence and learning the essential techniques needed to become skilled and responsible dog grooming assistants.

We’ll be showcasing some of their work along the way, celebrating their progress and sharing little glimpses of what goes on in our grooming salon. ✂️🛁🐕

🐶 Do you have a dog who would love a little pampering? 🐶

We’re always looking for dogs to come into college for our students to work with as part of their practical training. This is a great opportunity to help our students gain valuable, hands-on experience under tutor supervision while your four-legged friend enjoys some grooming TLC! 🛁🐾

If you’re interested in bringing your dog in, please keep an eye on our page for availability and further details, or send us a message for more information.

Please give our students a warm welcome and show them some support by liking, sharing and following our page! ❤️

We’re looking forward to sharing their journey with you and showing you just how much they can achieve. Watch this space! 🐾✨

Featuring Rhaegar just because hes soo handsome! 😍🐾

We’re particularly looking for clip-offs, spaniels and wool-coated breeds at the moment.

Dogs must have a good temperament, be used to being groomed and have no knots or matting.

Last night, our Willerby Grove, Peterlee Campus became the home of BBC's Question Time! 🎥✨

After two days of preparation, including building the set and stage, installing lighting, cameras and all the behind-the-scenes production equipment, we were proud to welcome host Fiona Bruce and the evening's panel to college.

Our media students were able to get a sneak peek behind the scenes, meeting some of the production crew, touring the set and OB trucks and seeing what it takes to bring the programme to the big screen. Meanwhile, our Professional Cookery students worked hard to prepare and serve a range of buffets and refreshments for guests, production teams and visitors throughout the day.

A fantastic opportunity for our students and a proud moment for the college! 👏
