The University of Plymouth’s Babylab would really appreciate your help.

The lab, which has a 20-year track record of studying language development from infancy to school age, is exploring how babies hear and respond to different accents. This study will help better understand how babies learn their first language.

They are looking for children aged between 16 and 17 months.

Carly Ellicott, one of our Early Childhood Studies graduates, has influenced a new episode of CBeebies Bedtime Stories!

The episode showcases the role of society’s youngest carers, with actress Natalie Cassidy reading the book Young Carers in Space, created by illustrator Ana Graca.

Carly is currently working towards a PhD in our School of Psychology highlighting the experiences of young carers.

When we spoke to her, she said, “This is important for ensuring all young carers have access to their legislative right, regardless of age. Our project, and the exposure given to it by the BBC, will help achieve this in a tangible way – CBeebies Bedtime Story has a huge following and I hope Natalie's reading will help young carers in early childhood and their families to feel seen.”
