The planet needs scientists - could you be one of them?

At City College Plymouth, our Level 3 Marine and Environmental Science programme combines environmental science, human biology and applied science, giving you the knowledge and practical skills to tackle real-world challenges.

From climate change and biodiversity to human health, genetics and pollution, this course explores how science shapes the world around us through hands-on laboratory work, fieldwork and scientific investigations.

Study three level 3 science qualifications, including A Level Environmental Science, all at once. Build laboratory, fieldwork and research skills, develop data analysis abilities, and learn how to undertake proper research and problem solve using scientific evidence.

Whether you're interested in conservation, environmental science, healthcare, laboratory science or beyond, this programme gives you a broad foundation for your future in science - and who knows where it might lead?

Ready to take your engineering skills to the next level?

Whether you’re looking to retrain for a new career, broaden your existing skill set or gain a formal qualification that recognises the skills you’ve developed in industry, our part-time engineering course at City College Plymouth could be the next step you’re looking for.

Over two years, you’ll build essential engineering knowledge and practical skills, with opportunities to explore both electrical/electronic and mechanical disciplines - from electrical machines to the maintenance of mechanical systems.

Equivalent to two A Levels, this course can also be combined with other qualifications and could provide a pathway into specific engineering roles or further study of the subject in higher education.

Science isn’t just about the big, life-changing discoveries: it’s about the thousands of people working in jobs that are seeking to somehow improve the lives of others.

Science offers a route to a variety of highly skilled and well-paid jobs, and our T Level in Science will provide you with the knowledge, skills and behaviours you need to succeed.

T Levels are a brand-new qualification designed to give you a head start towards the future you want. They follow GCSEs and are equivalent to three A Levels.

As part of this qualification, you will choose between one of two occupational specialisms:
- laboratory sciences
- food sciences.

Our two-year T Level qualification brings classroom and work placement together on a course designed with employers and businesses.

You’ll spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% on a 45-day placement to give you the skills and knowledge employers are looking for - and our T Level will help you to step straight into your chosen career, an Apprenticeship, or a degree.
