A great evening with the maritime community in Dubai.

MLA College was proud to be the Networking Reception Sponsor at the ICS Middle East Conference & Awards 2026, which brought together around 400 maritime professionals for an evening of industry discussion, networking and recognition.

Representing MLA College were Glenn Harris, Chief Operating Officer, and Arjun Sekhon, Partnerships & Alliances Manager, who had the opportunity to meet professionals from across the sector and have some great conversations about education, career development and the skills needed across a changing maritime industry.

It was also a pleasure to connect with Ravi Shankar, FICS, Chairman of the ICS Middle East branch (Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers), and Krishnan Subramaniam FICS, International Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.

A highlight of the evening was recognising high achievers in the Institute's professional examinations and celebrating the next generation of maritime professionals. Congratulations to all of the 2025–2026 awardees on their achievements.

For MLA, events like this are an important opportunity to stay close to the industry and the professionals we serve, understanding how careers, skills and the maritime sector itself continue to evolve.

Thank you to ICS Middle East for bringing the community together, and to everyone who took the time to meet and connect with us during the evening.

The first in-person day of SEEDS 2026 is underway in London.

Following yesterday’s online programme, academics, industry leaders and sustainability professionals have come together at GEDU House for two days of discussion, knowledge-sharing and collaboration.

Prof. Mohammad Dastbaz, Principal and CEO of MLA College College, and Kevin McCole, Managing Director of External Engagement and Sustainability at GEDU Global Education, opened today’s programme and welcomed delegates to the conference.

The day has already brought together leading voices from academia and industry, including Professor Chris Gorse of Loughborough University, Chair of SEEDS and RISE, and Professor Saul Humphrey, President of the The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

With conversations spanning sustainability, engineering, the built environment, technology and education, it is great to see the first in-person sessions of International Sustainable Ecological Engineering Design for Society (SEEDS) Conference 2026 bringing different perspectives together under one roof.

MLA College is proud to be part of the collaboration behind SEEDS 2026.

Can technological progress move faster than our ability to make it sustainable?

That is one of the questions at the heart of this year's International Sustainable Ecological Engineering Design for Society (SEEDS) Conference.

The 2026 theme, ‘Looking at 2026 through the eyes of 2015: Intelligence beyond technology’, reflects on just how much has changed since the first SEEDS conference was held eleven years ago.

Artificial intelligence and rapid technological advancement are reshaping industries and creating new possibilities. But they also raise important questions about their impact on people, the environment and our ability to meet long-term sustainability commitments.

Across three days, SEEDS 2026 will bring together researchers, academics and industry professionals to explore topics including:

- AI and sustainable design
- The environmental impact of technology
- Sustainability, ethics and responsibility
- Energy-efficient modelling and green technologies
- The consequences of AI for people and society
- The role of policy in driving sustainable change

How can we harness technological progress without losing sight of the environmental and societal outcomes it should serve?

We look forward to exploring that question at SEEDS 2026 from 1–3 September.
