Following guidance issued by the government, SportBU will be closing on Wednesday 4th November at 10

TeamBU is home to the Bournemouth University Performance Sport Teams. We strive in creating sporting opportunities that engages, excites and develops students, staff and the community.

SCHOLAR SECTION 🥇

Hatty Shenton is a Sports Scholar and BSc Adult Nursing Student at BU, and Lis Kennedy is a Sports Scholar and BSc Sport and Exercise Science Student at BU. Both were selected in February for this seasons Women’s Hockey Squad, after trialing back in December! 🏑

Both girls play for 1’s with Lis Captaining the team. Hatty was named Captain for the team this season and has also been selected for the past 2 years, Lis was also selected for last year’s squad! 👏

At the end of February the pair both played in their first fixture for the squad this season, where they faced Women’s Hockey Team. Winning 2-1 one the first day, and losing 2-1 on the second day.

In March, the team played their second fixture of the season against where they won 3-1, with Hatty getting a goal! 🙌

In April, the girls played against where they won 4-1 on day one, and lost 4-3 on day two. Across the weekend the girls both managed to get themselves 2 goals each! 🤩

They are now both training and preparing for the Home Nations Tournament in June, which will see them face Scottish Universities Sport Women’s Hockey Squad and the Welsh Universities Sport Women’s Hockey Squad! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

SCHOLAR SECTION 🥇

Carla Rudkin is a Sports Scholar and BSc Sport and Exercise Science Student at BU, and Keelan Perry is a Sports Scholar and BSc Product Design Student at BU. Both competed at the BUCS Nationals Karate Championships in February in Sheffield!🥋

Carla competed in 2 categories and performed amazingly, managing to podium in both! 👏:
🥈Senior Female Kata - Won first 5 rounds 5-0, lost closely 3-2 in the final to place 2nd.
🥉Senior Female Kumite - Won first 4 rounds, losing in the 5th to place 3rd.

Keelan competed in 1 category and this was his first BUCS event and first time representing BU, also having a great performance managing to podium too! 👏:
🥈Intermediate Male Kata - Winning several rounds and progressing to the final to place 2nd.

The success of our 2 BU Scholars also meant that overall Bournemouth finished 7th out of 42 Universities Nationally! 🙌 Carla and Keelan were also cheered on by the team, which we love to see! TeamBU athletes showing exactly we’re about on the South Coast and we couldn’t be prouder! 💙💛

BLUES VS YELLOWS 💙💛

As you all may know by now, this year we will be doing Blues vs Yellows AGAIN! 🔥 However, this year there is a slight twist from last year’s event… 👀

BLUES will consist of our current BU student athletes 💙
YELLOWS will represent our previous BU alumni athletes 💛

There will be some SPECTACULAR sporting fixtures throughout the week, as well as some music, food and FUN! 🎶🍔😁

So whether you are competing or spectating, make sure to get your ticket using the QR codes provided! If you screenshot the post, these can be scanned in your photo app! ☺️

WEEK 21 RESULTS 💙💛

As the majority of our teams now close the book on their BUCS season, it’s a strong finish with 6 wins out of 6 for Team BU! 🔥

The won the National Trophy Final at BUCS Touchdown Tuesday to declare themselves National Champions of Division 1, finishing the season undefeated and securing promotion to the Premiership! 🏈

1’s win their last regular season game to cement themselves into the Quarter-Finals of the National Championship against St Andrews 1’s! ⛳️

Not all Team BU sports are done for the season though… are just getting started! Their first game is on the 15th of April at get down and show some support! 🏏
