There's another chance to get your bike security tagged and registered on the national property database, 1.30 - 3.30 pm this Thursday 24 April, outside Ravelin Sports Centre.

Tagging your bike makes it much less attractive to opportunistic thieves and helps the police return your bicycle to you quickly should it ever be stolen and recovered.

Happy Easter!

The Easter Bank Holiday weekend is coming up, so please make sure you ask for any help you need by the end of tomorrow. Staff are here to help you devise effective searches, finding information, learning to use electronic resources, requesting books for postal loan, and asking any other questions of our staff by the end of tomorrow (Thursday 17 April).

The Library will still be open and all our electronic resources and online chat with our out-of-hours team will still be available 24/7 over the bank holiday weekend, but you'll have to wait until Tuesday 22 April to speak with our local staff again.

Looking for examples of past dissertations?

It is often helpful to see what "good" looks like. For many courses, exemple dissertations are available on Moodle but the Library also holds examples of quality student dissertations for some courses.

Thank you to everyone who shared messages of global goodwill a few weeks back for Global Week. We were quite overwhelmed by the response…our display boards were groaning under the weight of so much goodwill! You can still come and see the display up on the first floor landing in the display area this week and next if you missed the chance to read the messages.

Intermittent disruption to all networked computer systems in the Library is expected between 7.45 - 8.45 am on Thursday 10 April while preparatory work for a planned network upgrade later in the Summer is carried out.

Wired, wireless and telephone connections may all be interrupted intermittently during the upgrade window. This means that you may not be able to log in when you first arrive or you may log in and then lose connectivity for a period.

Please back up any files you intend to work on to avoid any risk of file corruption and check your work is saving normally during this maintenance window. If you have any questions or concerns, our IT Helpers will be happy to advise.

The Silent Study zone on the top floor of the library now has additional workspace providing rows of formal desks with dividers to minimise distraction from others.

You can borrow a laptop from the lockers on the ground floor or bring your own and study in a space with far fewer distractions.

The Individual Silent Study zones can be found in areas 2A & 2C on the second floor. You can recognise these areas by the prominent purple banners displayed near to the entrances.

Everyone’s ideal study space looks and feels different. What kind of space would suit you right now?

The bookable breastfeeding pod - a comfortable, private space for breastfeeding mothers to book if they want to feed their baby or express milk away from other people.

You can find this space on the second floor, across the footbridge from the Individual Silent Study zone.

Information about the pods, including how to book them, can be found on MyPort and the posters on the pod.
