오랜만이에요! 안녕! Now that exams are coming to an end, and many of us are saying goodbye to the academic year or the end of our degrees, K-Soc calls to all students returning to UCLAN in September to nominate themselves to help continue the legacy of KSOC next year!

We currently already have a vice-chair, but it's a lonely task running a society alone! Please consider nominating yourselves or a friend for the upcoming committee!

GUIDELINES:
1. You must be a current member to nominate yourself,
2. Prepare a short manifesto and picture so that everyone can see what you're all about,
3. Must be returning to the university for September onwards.

People don't realise that helping to manage a society is a big task and it's important that you know that being part of the committee is both a big responsibility and a great experience for everyone. So, please consider putting yourself forward for the following roles:

- Chairman
- Treasurer
- Secretary
- Social Secretary!

🪄 Exams are coming, so let's have one final club event before the holidays! Ksoc's joining Baker Street for an Easter/Pastel themed club night! See below for more details!

🐰 Pastel themed: not required but it looks cute if you wear something pastel or at least bright!

📨 Friday 24th March 2023

💿 Mix of English and Korean music! This is due to the event being open to general public as well as members.

💰 FREE ENTRY! You can use student ID to get discounts on certain drinks at the bar.

🍾 MORE SOJU! These are in limited supply.
— Regular or strawberry soju bottle: £10
— Shot of soju: £1.50
— Soju and beer bomb (소맥): £2.50
— 5 soju and beer bombs: £10
⚠️ No drinks can be brought from outside the venue. If you're caught with a drink you did not purchase at the bar, you're at risk of being asked to leave the event. It is against the rules!

✨ Song requests can be made via our story, or leave a comment! Requests close at midnight on Monday!

📸 Camera shy? Photography may be taken at the venue. If there are any issues, please speak to committee!

🪪 ID is required to enter the venue as it is an 18+ event, with alcohol present. Nobody is required to drink or should feel pressured into drinking at our events!

🪄 여러분, 안녕! We know that not all of our members can drink, or enter venues that sell alcohol. We want our events to be inclusive to all, so we've prepared a completely non alcoholic event combined with our study group! For more information, read below!

📨 Wednesday 22nd March, 6-9pm
1. Study group: 6-9pm
2. Game session: 7-9pm
🎐 In case anybody is confused, the two events will run in sync— if you'd rather study for the full three hours, then that's okay! But from 7-9pm, there will be games in another room! Feel free to pick and choose your preferred activity.

📍 Media Factory, ME113
🪪 You will need to bring your student card to scan into Media Factory!

📘 STUDY GROUP
- Please bring your own equipment including pens, laptops, or any other materials like chargers
- Not silent study, so feel free to work in groups or solo!

🎲 GAMES
- Variety of practical games and board games
- Fun Korean or Korean-inspired games
- More to come!

🍰 Tea, coffee and other beverages will be available at the event, as well as snacks to go with the drinks. If you're concerned about potential allergies or intolerances, or vegan/Halal options, we recommend you bring your own snacks & drinks to avoid any problems!

🫰🏻 It's a totally free event, so just show up and have a good time! It's our first time running an event like this, so please be patient if there are any issues and of course, have an amazing time!

🍀 Don't forget about our biweekly social at Ships TOMORROW! More details are below:

💰 TREASURE HUNT: it's a fun game for members: find the hidden treasure! No more than three teams will come together to find the hidden coins scattered around Ships. The team who finds the most coins will win the pot of treasure!

If you're interested in joining the game, please arrive between 8-9pm to be sorted into teams. It's free of charge, but you must prove membership to K-soc to join (show your card or other proof of membership)!

— Other games are also available at the menu! Please get involved!

🧤 Green themed! Wear something green! It's not required but it's a lot of fun to look the part.

💗 Nobody should feel pressured into drinking at our socials! Please enjoy the event regardless!

💗 Please do not bring alcohol purchased outside the venue inside, as this may lead to the society (and members) losing privileges and even access to the venue. If you caught with drinks purchased outside of the venue, you risk being escorted off the premises.

🪪 You can collect membership cards at the venue tomorrow. Please bring proof of membership if you'd like to join the treasure hunt!

🪄✨ 여러분 안녕! Exams are fast approaching and it seems like everybody is drowning in assignments and due dates... Ksoc wants our members to take the time to focus on their studies, which is why we're putting together a study group!

🌷 It's a totally free session and is just intended to bring students together to study collaboratively. It's student led and anybody is welcome to attend and study with friends.

💭 Thanks to some students, there's also a chance to work on your Korean and/or English skills! It's an intimate and informal setting, so don't be nervous, as everyone is a learner!

📧 The study group will be held on WEDNESDAY 15TH MARCH from 3pm until 5pm.

Ksoc wants to bring fun activities for our members, but this semester lots of our events are trial and error. Please be patient and understanding of the fact that some events might not sail smoothly 100% of the time. So let's learn together and hopefully we will see some people there and create a super friendly, helpful and fun environment for students.

📢 K-SOC NEEDS YOU!

On the 24th Feb 2023, applications and nominations for society committees officially closes. Currently, K-Soc has ZERO NOMINATIONS, which means that if nobody applies, then K-Soc disbands for the next year.

K-Soc is one of the greatest societies at UCLAN and its members are part of one giant and incredible community. This year, we are trying our best to bring all students together and provide interesting and fun events related to Korea, and it would be a shame if the society did not return next year.

SO...Please consider nominating yourself to be on the committee, or think about anyone who might be perfect for one of the roles. You can nominate via the Student Union page or follow the temporary link in our bio.

🪄 You asked, and we listened. K-Soc's Throwback/Y2K Club event is coming soon... And it's FREE. For more information, read below!

🪩 Unlike past events, this event is totally free to all K-Soc members. This means there is no entrance fee to the event. Everybody is welcome, but purchasing a membership to K-Soc would be greatly appreciated as it helps support us and then we can make more events like this!

📮 Location: Baker Street, 30-34 Avenham Street, Preston, PR13BN

⏰ Time: 9pm (21:00)

👗 Theme: The theme is Throwback/Y2K, so as well as throwback songs being played, please dress in something throwback or Y2K themed! It's not required but it's fun to be involved!

💌 To make song requests, you can leave a comment on the song request upload, on the highlight or via dms. Not all of your requests may be chosen, however. REQUESTS CLOSE ON SUNDAY AT 00:00!

🕺🏻 As always, please bring ID as it may be checked upon entry. You definitely do not have to drink alcohol, but be aware that it will be present at the event due to the circumstances.

🥂 Soju is priced at £5!! Stock may be limited.

🪄 calling all 책벌레s !! Do you like to read? We know that partying isn't for everyone, but luckily, K-soc supports all of our members' interests and we have created an official Goodreads group!

With this group, members can share their favourite Korean literature as well as discover new reads and authors. Of course, this group is intended to share Korean literature but is not limited to— we want our members to share what they might feel passionate about and create new friends and share their thoughts with other bookworms.

📖 HOW TO JOIN:
— All you need is a Goodreads account to join this group!
— K-soc membership is preferable but it's not absolutely required.
— It's totally free! And helpful!

💬 MORE
This group will most likely be primarily English, but Korean members are encouraged to join and converse in Korean too. We are all learners, so let's learn and have fun together!
