Myerscough Motorsport secures best ever race finish at Donington
Behind every race is a team working against the clock. At Donington Park, successful pit stops, competitive times and a strong team effort marked Myerscough College & University Centre’s latest outing at Donington Park, where the team secured 29th place in the Gaz Shocks 116 Trophy race on Sunday, the best result for the 116.
Lecturer Simon Moss delivered a strong drive, improving from 36th despite ABS sensor failure to bring the car safely across the finish line. The car was a little worse for wear after the 90 minute race, when the senor failure caused a lock-up and spin, two cars tagging the student-run car.
All eight degree-level Motorsport students performed to high standards throughout the event, with two Management and Logistics students taking on media and team communications, whilst six Competition Car Technology students executed data, car preparation and pitlane operations.
The day proved to be a valuable experience, with several first-year students describing it as “eye-opening”, offering them a better understanding of what a real working race day involves.
A special thank you to lecturer Marcos Vrandecic and driver Simon Moss for their dedication and continued support in making these opportunities possible.
Moss said, “The team worked brilliantly together and for many of them it was their first competitive event. I'm not the fastest driver, however I knew I could put my trust in these dedicated students. My thanks and congratulations go to all of those involved for their hard work and commitment.”
