A University of Lancashire graduate has been praised by the United States Government's Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) after developing an innovative approach to improving space weather forecasting during the final year of his studies.

Using more than 13 years of forecasting data supplied by the SWPC, which regularly collaborates with NASA, Robotics Engineering graduate Leo Hayes, 31, developed a machine-learning framework designed to improve decision-making in space weather forecasting.
