โค๏ธ Before anyone picks up a bin bag, this is where the real work starts.
The feedback in the image above means a lot because the first visit isnโt about clearing a house. Itโs about understanding the person who lives there.
There is no pomp and ceremony. No judgement. No pressure. No expectation that someone is suddenly going to part with their belongings.
Instead, it starts with an informal chat.
We take the time to understand:
๐ก How things reached this point
โค๏ธ What challenges the person is facing
๐ฏ What they would like their home and life to look like
๐ช Which areas are causing the biggest difficulties right now
๐ฃ What the most important first steps might be
For many people, inviting someone into their home is one of the hardest things they will ever do. Shame, embarrassment, fear of judgement, grief, trauma, illness, neurodivergence, caring responsibilities and life events can all play a part.
Thatโs why building trust comes before clearing clutter.
Sometimes the biggest achievement of that first visit isnโt a cleared room or a filled skip. Sometimes itโs seeing someone smile, feel heard, and realise they donโt have to face it alone.
Every home has a story. We are privileged to be trusted with listening to it.
If you, a family member, or someone you support is struggling with hoarding behaviours, chronic disorganisation, self-neglect, or an overwhelming home environment, weโre here to help.
