🚭 Smoke-Free and Vape-Free College from 1st September 2026

From 1st September 2026, Thomas Rotherham College will become a smoke-free and vape-free site for all students and staff. Smoking and va**ng will not be permitted anywhere on college premises, including outdoor areas (yes, this includes the current 'smoking shelter).

This change supports our commitment to creating a healthy learning environment and aligns with national efforts to create a smoke-free generation and tackle youth va**ng. Furthermore, the government’s To***co and Vapes Bill, currently progressing rapidly through Parliament, is expected to extend existing public smoking bans to sixth form colleges, meaning smoking in these settings would become illegal.

From September:

⛔Smoking and va**ng are strictly prohibited on site.
⛔Any student found to be smoking or va**ng on site could have their place at college withdrawn.

Support is available for those who wish to stop smoking or va**ng. Please see a member of the Safeguarding team should you wish to access this support.

Our Law students benefited from an engaging and highly impactful session delivered by Natalie Garrett, Cyber Prevent/Protect Officer, and Nicki Robertson, Fraud Protect Officer, from South Yorkshire Police.

The sessions combined insightful, real-world learning on cyber-crime and fraud with an interactive escape room activity, creating a memorable and immersive experience that fully engaged students throughout.

The students gained a deeper understanding of how the law operates in real-life contexts and the event strongly supported the work of the Business and Law department in bringing learning to life, and we are excited to build on this successful partnership again next year.

Just before half term, we had the pleasure of giving our Year 13 students a wonderful send off as they prepare for the next stage of their journey.👋❤️

The afternoon was filled with fun activities, laughter and plenty of opportunities for students to spend time together, reflect on their time at TRC and make lasting memories with friends and staff.🎈☀️😁

We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved and wish them every success in their future adventures. Good luck Year 13! We can’t wait to see what you’ll accomplish next and please come and see us on Results Day! 🎓✨
