🎉 It’s hashtag during hashtag , and today we’re celebrating the organisations that are shaping the workforce of tomorrow! 🚀

📢 The latest Skills England report, Driving Growth and Widening Opportunities, highlights critical challenges in the UK skills landscape—from an ageing workforce and growing demand for STEM talent to the rise of green jobs. Despite these challenges, UK training investment has declined by 5% since 2010, while other European economies have increased theirs.

The result? Rising skills gaps in areas like leadership, project management, and digital expertise. Leadership alone accounts for 44% of skills-driven vacancies, with many businesses relying on “accidental managers” who lack formal training.

💡 So, how can businesses close these gaps and thrive? Apprenticeships.

📈 Real-world results show how apprenticeships deliver high-impact development for both individuals and organisations. Take Nick Brooke from Jungheinrich —his journey on the Team Leader programme helped him transform his management style and improve day-to-day operations, delivering real value to his business.

As Victoria Burston, UK L&D at Jungheinrich, puts it:
“Learning and implementation happen simultaneously, which keeps our leadership styles current and ensures we’re always improving.”
Upskilling your existing workforce isn’t just cost-effective—it’s a proven way to reduce recruitment risks, boost productivity, and develop future leaders within your organisation.

National Apprenticeship Week 2025: Celebrating Skills for Life

National Apprenticeship Week 2025 is here! This annual celebration highlights the achievements of apprentices across the UK, the employers who support them, and the positive impact apprenticeships have on individuals, businesses, and the economy.

This year’s theme, “Skills for Life,” focuses on how apprenticeships equip people with the knowledge and experience needed to succeed in an ever-changing world. Whether it’s mastering cutting-edge technologies, developing leadership capabilities, or addressing global challenges, apprenticeships are at the forefront of building a skilled workforce.

Why Apprenticeships Matter

Apprenticeships offer a unique opportunity to earn while you learn, combining on-the-job training with academic study. They are a pathway for people of all ages and backgrounds to gain qualifications, develop practical skills, and secure rewarding careers. For employers, apprenticeships are an invaluable tool for attracting fresh talent, upskilling existing employees, and inspiring innovation.

How to Get Involved
Whether you’re an apprentice, an employer, or simply someone who values learning and development, there are plenty of ways to participate in National Apprenticeship Week 2025:

Attend Local Events: Check out what’s happening in your area and get involved in workshops, career fairs, and employer showcases.
Celebrate Apprentices: Recognise the hard work and contributions of apprentices in your organisation or community with shoutouts, awards, or special events.
Share Your Story: Use the hashtag to share your apprenticeship experiences, support others considering this route, and spread awareness of the opportunities available.

Get involved for this year's National Apprenticeship Week! Share your stories on apprenticeships, or find out why our approach to apprenticeships has allowed us to lift up individuals and organisations across the UK for over 40 years:

📰 Have you heard the news ⁉️

From April 2025, employer National Insurance contributions (NICs) will rise, adding to business costs. But here’s the good news: employers won’t pay NICs for employees under 25 who are enrolled on an apprenticeship. Whether it’s recruiting fresh talent or upskilling existing staff through an apprenticeship, this exemption helps you reduce costs while growing and developing your team.
