Wherever the summer's taken you – firm choice, insurance choice, or a Clearing decision made in August – enrolment is nearly here for our new intake.

Welcome Week gives new students the chance to settle in before term properly begins: campus tours, studio inductions, meeting tutors and coursemates, and social events including the Welcome Fair.

We know the run-up to starting university can feel overwhelming, especially for families where this is new territory. Our Student Services team is on hand from day one, so there's always support close by.

Keep an eye on emails from us with full details on enrolment, but please get in touch if there's anything we can help with before the big day.

This week's course spotlight: BA (Hons) Independent Filmmaking.

Students make films that get shown at real festivals, working with professional-grade equipment throughout the course. By graduation, they'll have a portfolio, IMDB credits, and a feature film proposal ready to take to investors.

Past students have gone on to work across music videos, documentaries, short films and feature productions.

Take a deeper look into our course and see if it’s a good fit.

Thinking a Music Production degree only leads to "music producer"? There's more on the table than that.

Graduates go on to work as studio or live sound engineers, touring with artists and running soundchecks at venues. Others move into film and TV, producing scores and soundtracks that shape the emotion of a scene. Game audio designer is another growing path, building the soundtrack for an entire virtual world.

For students with their own creative ambitions, the degree also builds the skills to write, record and release original music as an artist.

One course, several genuine career routes.

This week's course spotlight: BA (Hons) Editing for Film, TV and Media.

Students edit real broadcast-standard footage, from feature films to prime-time TV, alongside material they shoot themselves. Live briefs bring them into contact with real clients and real jobs, working alongside Futureworks' VFX, Filmmaking and Audio students rather than sitting through simulated placements.

Graduates leave with a portfolio and showreel built for freelance editing work or a role within a production team.

For anyone weighing up a career in editing or post-production, this course is worth investigating properly, whether that's as a Clearing decision or looking ahead to next year.

Game Art or Games Design: what's the difference?

Game Art is about how a game looks. Students build characters, environments, textures and interfaces, working in software like Maya, ZBrush, Substance and Unreal Engine.

Games Design is about how a game plays. Students shape mechanics, levels and player experience, prototyping in engines such as Unity and Unreal.

In professional studios, the two roles collaborate constantly, artists build the world, designers build the rules. Choosing between the two degrees comes down to whether visuals or gameplay excites you more.

This week's course spotlight: BSc (Hons) Game Audio.

Students learn to record, design and implement sound for games, covering everything from sound effects and Foley to adaptive music and middleware integration with game engines.

Training takes place on the same tools used in real careers, so the skills students build transfer directly into studio work.

Graduates go on to roles across game studios and interactive media companies.

Thinking about a Game Audio course this September or next year? This is the one to look at.

Results Day answers some questions. A campus visit answers the rest.

We're opening our doors on Saturday 15th August for anyone considering Futureworks through Clearing.

It's a chance to see the studios, meet the tutors, and ask the questions that matter: course content, graduate outcomes, fees, and what day-to-day life on campus looks like.

Seeing the place in person, rather than deciding from a phone screen the day after results, tends to make the decision far easier.
