Including Dr Bike where you can get your bike repaired for free! A Sound Walk with the Arts Collection Team and a Halloween Costume Swap with Salford SU!

As part of Go Green Salford, we have our usual Bioblitz!

A Bioblitz is a communal effort to monitor and measure biodiversity in a specific area over a given time period.

As well as helping to record what wildlife we have on campus, our Bioblitz events give you the opportunity to learn more about different species of plants and animals.

With walks, talks and mammal trapping sessions - there's loads to join in with!

How well do you know your bins at the University of Salford? ♻️

Our colleague Anna will go through common ‘wish cycling’ items. These items that people often think are recyclable but are actually not.

Preventing contamination in bins means more materials can be recovered in the recycling process. However the best policy on waste is to not have it in the first place by using reusable items.

The Campus Nature Challenge is back!

We're asking you to get as many observations uploaded to iNaturalist of plants, insects, fungi and any other creature you find on campus.

We have prizes for the most observations and most species uploaded between Friday 18 and Sunday 27 September.

It's Recycling Week!

At the University we're working hard to reduce the waste we produce overall. However, in a lot of cases, waste is unavoidable so we actively work to recycle as much as we can.

As a University, we currently recycle around 45% of our waste, which includes food, paper, plastics, glass and metal. Our aim is to increase this to 50% by 2030.

What we can't recycle goes to other waste treatment processes such as anaerobic digestion or used to create energy - but nothing goes to landfill!

Between May and August, we have

A campaign we run that allows our green spaces across campus to grow wild. Giving nature time to thrive we're providing food and habitat for many creatures across campus. From butterflies to bees to creatures even bigger!

We've seen lots of plant species thriving during Let it Grow, such as Common Scabious, Ragged Robbin and Bee Orchids. We've also found many creatures enjoying these spaces, with many different types of bees, Common Blue Butterflies and even local deer.

As well as supporting local wildlife, Let It Grow helps keep soils healthy and locks in carbon helping it act as a valuable carbon store.
