What happens during the concert?
During the concert there will be wonderful live music to enjoy and that is the point of coming. Be there to experience a great live performance by an international artist. At our first concert, this will be the pianist Mishka Rushdie Momen.
During the concert, audience members need to be mindful of others in the audience by remaining quiet throughout the performance and making sure that no devices interrupt by making any sounds. Please turn off your mobile phone, avoid any talking or making any other noises so that you and others can concentrate on enjoying the music.
It is a good idea to read the programme notes either before the concert or during short gaps in the performance to avoid the sounds from turning pages in the programme.
The most important part is to watch, listen, learn and enjoy.

What's it like when you arrive at one of our concerts?
There is plenty of car parking available and you can go to the middle door to get in. This door has a few steps but if you want to avoid these, at either end of the building there is a ramp you can use and then go to the middle door to get in.
Go through the middle door and there will usually be someone there to greet you. Once inside, to your right, there will be people at tables where you can buy admission (either cash or card payment) and people who have programmes for sale at just £1, refreshment tickets for the interval (again just £1) with a choice of tea/coffee or fruit juice. You can also buy raffle tickets for the raffle that will be drawn during the interval, 50p a strip.
Before the concert starts, there will be a time while the artists rehearse, but once this is finished you will be able to go and choose a seat.
The seating is tiered, but if going up the steps presents a problem, you can have a ground level seat if you let us know in advance. We have spaces for wheelchair users as well.
Our next concert features the pianist Mishka Rushdie Momen and is on 16th October 2026 at 7.30pm

The first piece that Mishka Rushdie Momen will be playing is the Beethoven Moonlight Sonata.
That wasn't the name given by Beethoven, but was an idea from a music critic, Ludwig Rellstab who thought the music suggested a boat in the moonlight on Lake Lucerne. Beethoven gave it the title of a fantasy sonata, but whether this fantasy was about a boat on Lake Lucerne is not known.
What do you see in your mind when you listen? Come to find out on 16th October at 7:30pm. For tickets and details:

What is the difference between listening to a recording and a live performance?
Being at a live performance gives you an experience which you will remember whereas listening to a recording is a great way to recall an experience you have had.
There is an artist to be discovered later this month as we welcome the pianist Mishka Rushdie Momen to our opening concert of the 26-27 concert season.
In 2025 she won the Critics' Circle Piano Award and she is the niece of the author Salman Rushdie.
We are looking forward to her playing on 16th October. Tickets are great value at £18 and even cheaper if you take out a society membership. You can get tickets online or on the door. For more information, see our website.
