Biosciences Lecture Series – Tuesday 15th June 3pm-5pm.

Hi Everyone,

We hope you are doing well. Below is a message about an upcoming Biosciences Lecture:

The Biosciences departments are delighted to welcome Dr Jeremy Yoder, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at California State University Northridge, as the next speaker for the Biosciences lecture series. This event will take place virtually, on Blackboard Collaborate - https://eu.bbcollab.com/guest/442725191d50480eb3002fdc03e4bdaa.

The Biosciences lectures aim to champion scientists from underrepresented and minority groups in the Biosciences, and promote discussions about how to create a more inclusive working and learning environment. This event, running to coincide with Pride Month, aims to raise the visibility and support of LGBTIQ+ people across the Biosciences. Dr Yoder will be talking about his experiences as a member of the LGBTIQ+ community within the educational system in general and how to make scientific workplaces more welcoming. His talk will be followed by a discussion panel including Dr Yoder and students and staff from across the Biosciences – Frane Babarovic (APS), Estelle Challinor (MBB) and Andrew Lin (BMS) – moderated by Zoe Hewitt (BMS) and Alison Wright (APS).

Many thanks,

Alternative Careers for Science Graduates

Hear from recent University of Sheffield science graduates about how they are applying their science degrees in a range of different roles and organisations. You will gain an insight into jobs you may not have even thought about and have the chance to gain some useful advice and ask lots of questions.

Perfect for final years who have not secured their first job yet as many of these graduates did not join graduate schemes but via "direct entry". For other years, a great way to explore the varied ways in which you can apply your science degrees. In order to join, you need to sign up beforehand.
