Our next speaker Marianna Bolshakova is the Regional Coordinator for Environmental Law and Governance at the Europe Office of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).
She joined UNEP in early 2020 from the secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) where she served as Legal Officer and supported the intergovernmental negotiations process, including the drafting of the Paris Agreement and its implementing framework.
Before this, Marianna worked at the UN Economic Commission for Europe on issues that included environmental governance, compliance mechanisms, education for sustainable development and the sustainable development initiatives. Prior to joining the UN in 2003, she managed multi-country environmental policy and governance projects for the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe. Marianna started her legal career at the first public interest environmental advocacy in Ukraine in 1995. She holds LLM degrees in Civil Law and in Comparative Constitutional Law.
