Confucius Institute at the University of Sheffield (SCI) is an international collaboration between the University of Sheffield, the Office of Chinese Language Council International (OCLCI, commonly known as Hanban, Confucius Institute Headquarters), Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) and Nanjing University (NJU). SCI offers Mandarin language courses and Chinese culture courses for chil

dren and adult learners as well as courses and workshops for schools and businesses, and runs a programme of China-related seminars and events throughout the year.

The CI team was absolutely thrilled to visit Wath Academy last night for the official opening ceremony of their new Confucius Classroom!

It was an absolute joy to hear the students speaking Mandarin so beautifully, their dedication and talent are truly inspiring. It was wonderful to see students proudly collecting their certificates during the ceremony!

We are incredibly excited for what the future holds and immensely proud to welcome Wath Academy into the Confucius Classroom family. A massive thank you to Emily, Head of Modern Foreign Languages, whose hard work and vision made this all happen!

Finally, we want to wish a huge good luck to all the students who will be taking their HSK exams soon!

We had the privilege of visiting the historic Cutlers' Hall yesterday, following a kind invitation from the Master Cutler, Professor Keith Jackson.
It was a fantastic experience for the Confucius Institute at the University of Sheffield team.

A big special thank you to everyone who came along, helped and performed at our Dragon Boat 2026 festival.
