The Richard Wilson Essay Prize 2026
The Nystagmus Network is pleased to launch the essay competition in memory of our former chairman, the late Richard Wilson OBE, who did so much to push the boundaries of nystagmus research in the UK and ensured the charity invested as much as possible in nystagmus research studies.
Now in its third year, the competition seeks to encourage students and early career researchers to pursue an interest in nystagmus.

It was wonderful to be invited to speak at this conference - alongside other brilliant speakers.

The children’s focussed sessions were fantastic - with great questions!

The student presentations are a brilliant addition to the programme.

Well done to all.

Our students once again delivered a wide range of incredible presentations to the Symposium this morning.

Orthoptics may not the first thing you think of when you think of a career in health, but it's a unique, rewarding discipline that helps people see and feel better.

If you know someone who is interested in science, health and working with children or adults, encourage them to join us at The University of Sheffield's Open Day on Saturday 23rd November for our Orthoptics subject talk.

Our tutors and current students will give you an overview of this patient-facing, autonomous career, and de-mystify the unique, hands-on placements that make up a significant part of the course.
