We are a specialist team working to provide ALL students (UK, European, international) with an international and intercultural experience on campus. We organise an exciting range of social integration activities for all students to help you get the most out of Sheffield Hallam's international community. We run regular fun events and projects so students from different backgrounds can meet, develop

your cultural awareness and knowledge of the world. We also provide specialist services to ensure international students have the best possible experience while studying at Sheffield Hallam University. International students get a warm welcome and orientation on arrival; and specialist advice and support specific to your needs throughout the year. Support includes:
• Pre-arrival guidance - a printed pre-arrival pack and discussion groups
• On-arrival support - airport pick-up, meet and greet services and orientation programmes
• SHU GoGlobal which provides social integration activities such as Culture Connect, Conversation Club, Global Friends and trips to places of interest
• Academic and welfare advice and guidance to help international students adjust to studying in the UK
• Immigration advice and guidance to students and staff

Who Needs Cultural Intelligence?

Cultural Intelligence (CQ) measures your capability to relate and work effectively in culturally diverse situations.

The higher your CQ, the more likely you will gain new opportunities, earn higher wages, and experience success working in today’s diverse, globalised world.

In this entertaining session Dr. Anja Louis will explain how you acquire Cultural Intelligence and what happens if you don’t bother!

This session is part of Global Citizenship Portfolio (GCP) which recognises your hard work in developing your intercultural competencies and global outlook while studying at Hallam.

It is a fun, fascinating module, full of insightful topics, that you can undertake at your own pace in 4 easy steps. Completing GCP will also help you achieve the Gold Hallam Award.
