Hallam Cycling, Hallam Sports club of the year 2014/15 is part of the Sheffield Hallam University Union where anyone and everyone can come together from whichever discipline and enjoy cycling in Sheffield together with the Peak District as your playground! Our main areas of riding are Road (RD), Cross Country (XC) & Downhill (DH) cycling although we do have riders who take part in other cycling di

sciplines. At Hallam Cycling we like to ride hard and play hard, Sheffield is definitely the best city in the UK to do that, with the peak district within a short from the city centre combined with the awesome nightlife Sheffield offers! For 2016 Hallam Cycling is going better and bigger than ever before! Regular rides, racing and of course the infamous socials, hope you’ve got your lairy lycra ready…

Rides:

Hallam Cycling will run regular rides for all disciplines and levels of abilities throughout the year. Socials:

Hallam Cycling in partnership with The HUBs, Hallam Union and SOYO bar, will be running big club socials every three weeks, with various themes such as Full Lycra, Sh*t Shirt night, beach party and many more. Things are guaranteed to get interesting! With Prizes for the wildest outfit and special drinks offers exclusive to Hallam Cycling members only, we promise you’ll spend some of the best nights of your time at Sheffield Hallam University with us! As well as the main socials we run loads of other events and activities for you to get involved with! Trips:

The first Hallam Cycling club trip is scheduled for North Wales in October 2016, a weekend trip combining all disciplines to get everyone together! A second trip with a similar agenda is planned around late March 2017 in the Lake District. No matter what bike you ride, these Hallam Cycling trips will cater for you. Hallam Cycling Team Trips will run in early January and again in mid-March. The roadies will be heading abroad to Malaga in January and Calpe in March. Both trips will be ideal preparation for that racing season ahead. Both the Cross Country and Downhill riders will head to South wales in early January and then off up to Scotland in mid-March. Both locations hold great MTB trails and runs to perfect your technical skills and build form ahead of the summer. Racing:

Hallam Cycling as a club have established ourselves as one of the best University cycling clubs in the country with excellent BUCS road results and 3rd best in a country at downhill. We have a large range of competitions including Hill Climbs, Time Trials, Road, XC and Downhill Races. We will field a strong team for all events so get involved and get training hard to get the chance to represent Hallam Cycling. Hallam Cycling is also British Cycling & CTT affiliated. We are looking to get as many people as possible involved with British Cycling & CTT events whether that be as a new-comer or as a seasoned rider. We also target local events, where we will get the chance to show that Hallam Cycling is more than just a university society. Sheffield Varsity is one of the biggest varsity events within the UK, Uni of Sheffield are the current holders of the Sheffield cycling varsity title after a very narrow victory. So 2016/2017 is our year to take the title back! This is a competition across all sports between the cities’ two universities. Hallam Cycling will compete against University of Sheffield Cycling Club over several cycling disciplines to see who can be crowned varsity champions 2017. The points gained from the competitions will be added to the overall tally to complete and decide the winner of Varsity 2016. Contact us at: [email protected]
