Sheffield alum Dr Bashir Mohammed has won the prestigious Science and Sustainability Award at the British Council Study UK Alumni Awards USA! 🎉

From optimising jet engines at the University of Sheffield to working as an AI Solutions Architect, Bashir is helping shape a smarter, more sustainable future. Through his research and expertise, he is bridging the gap between cutting-edge technology and government policy, including briefing US legislators on responsible AI.

Meet Jim, Professor of Magnetic Resonance Physics and Executive Director of Insigneo Institute.

His research makes it possible to image the lungs using an inhaled gas – a safe, non-invasive method, especially important for children.

The Big Walk 🥾 is helping ensure this research can reach every child who needs it. Jim will be joining the Big Walk again this year (as he has for many years before), will you join him?

To celebrate this special milestone, Western Bank Library is hosting a retrospective exhibition exploring the many changes and iconic moments that have shaped your SU and generations of students.

While you’re there, visit some of the SU’s most iconic buildings, which will also be hosting events and activities to mark the occasion. The exhibition is free and open until 28 June!
