Carbon Neutral University - Sheffield

Sad to say The University of Sheffield dropped 23 places in the People and Planet university league table and only came 83rd.

They also failed to meet the national emissions reduction target for universities of a 43% reduction on 2005 levels.

We urgently need to see more action from the University to address this shortfall. Sustainability has to be a priority!

""To not educate students about climate change and sustainability is negligent and verges on denialism," he explained.

"We definitely need [the teaching of climate literacy] to be in legislation, it can't just be left to each individual institution that feels like it," McAulay continued.

The city must drastically reduce the greenhouse gases it produces from an estimated 3.77 million tonnes-a-year now to almost nothing by 2030.

Sheffield’s ‘net zero’ carbon emissions target is ‘hugely ambitious and extremely challenging’ - with just nine years to go.
