Tyne Coast College is seeking an exceptional and visionary leader to be appointed as Principal of South Shields Marine School: one of the UK’s most established maritime training providers.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership to drive growth, quality, and reputation, while strengthening the College’s position across maritime training, engineering, and renewable energy.

This is a unique opportunity to influence regional, national, and international maritime education, build strategic partnerships, and deliver meaningful impact for learners and industry.

Charity Football Match 2026 - Congratulations Engine Team! 🏆🛠️

🟩 ENGINE 6 - 3 DECK 🟧

Thank you to everyone who came down to watch our student charity football match on Sunday 14th June 2026 at Harton Welfare Club ⚽ both sides, our Deckies in orange and our Engineers in green, played an excellent match whilst raising money for charity. The high-action match saw great possession and goal attempts from both teams, and ultimately ended in an Engine win! 🙌 This brings our student charity football matches from the past three years to Engine 2 - 1 Deck 🏅

With our 2026 Graduation 5 weeks away, we wanted to share some Graduation highlights from last year's ceremony 🎓

All students finishing their course this summer, or who have recently completed their course, are inivted to South Shields Marine School's Graduation 2026 🥳

✉️ Eligible students have received an email on Wednesday 20th May with their invite and registration link; if you have any issues, please contact [email protected]

If any students who have recently completed their course and were unable to attend our Graduation in July 2025, or have completed their course during 2025 or 2026 and have not received an invitation and would like to come to Graduation, please contact [email protected]

🕚 Ceremony 1 - OOW and Collaboration Students: 11am
🕒 Ceremony 2 - Cadet Students: 3pm
👥 Guests: Students will be able to select to bring up to two guests (optional) and request additional guests if required
🎓 Highlights: Speeches, certificates, photo opportunities, and a chance to commemorate this important milestone

June marks LGBTQ+ Pride Month, and at South Shields Marine School we are proud to support LGBTQ+ people within our college and our wider global community 🏳️‍🌈

We foster a diverse and inclusive environment and aim to uphold a maritime culture where everyone, including members of the LGBTQ+ community, can feel safe and respected.

Our Tutors and Lecturers are happy to provide support, guidance, or simply someone to talk to, and we would warmly encourage our LGBTQ+ students to reach out if needed 👋
