Hey guys…
Hope you are all ready for the scavenger social, here are some more details for you…

So be at stags for 7:45 where we’ll get into teams of ~5 , then we’ll start the scavenger hunt at 8:00. Then it’s your teams job to complete as many tasks and challenges as you make your way down to clowns.

You’ll need to take photos and videos of your teams completing each challenge to earn the points. You must be in clowns bar by 10pm and then we’ll add up the points and see which team has won. And then it’s a fun night in jesters.

Feel free to invite any mates even if they’re not part of GeolSoc.

See you Tomorrow at stags at 7:45.

Hey guys, been asked to share this interesting talk with our students.

Tonight at 6pm - 7pm AAPG YP London are hosting a free talk titled "What is nuclear waste and what do we do with it?"

Nuclear power is the second largest source of low carbon energy used today to produce electricity, and accounts for about 10% of the world's electricity. Part of this includes the need to effectively manage the waste produced from this. David Eastwell is one of our Southampton geophysics graduates and President of AAPG YP Europe, and currently works as a Geophysist at Nuclear Waste Management. David will be introducing broader aspects of nuclear energy within the context of the energy transition and deep dive into his specific role and the associated opportunities, challenges and risks.

You can find out more and register for the talk at the following link: https://aapg.zoom.us/webinar/register/6516190878550/WN_ZVlpv2RxTwS-lfUIE_g27Q
