We are a society for (and run by) students who study Biological Sciences at the University of Southampton! We run educational and social events, including a careers fair and bi-annual balls, and offer several sports teams that compete in the intramural leagues.

Hi Everyone!

We hope you’re all having an amazing summer so far! We’re so excited to introduce our BioSoc Committee for the 2026/27 academic year, including the brand new role of Social Media Officer!

We’re all incredibly excited to be part of BioSoc this year and can’t wait to welcome both familiar and new faces at our events. We have lots of exciting things planned, and we’re looking forward to making this a great year.

BioSoc Parenting Scheme 2026/27 sign-ups are now open!
We’re looking for Y2/Y3/Y4 students to become BioSoc “parents” and help welcome incoming first years during Welcome Week.
You’ll be paired with a first-year tutor group and act as a friendly student point of contact, helping freshers settle in, answer general uni questions, and get involved with BioSoc.
You can sign up individually or as a pair with a friend. If signing up as a pair, please only submit one form between you to avoid duplicates.
Sign up using the link in our bio by 31st August.

Introducing… the new BioSoc 2026-27 Committee! 🥳

Hey everyone! After our AGM last week we are very excited to announce our new committee for next year 👏 Congratulations to our new committee and thanks to everyone who ran and came to our AGM :)

We still have one space for a BZ education officer - this role involves helping with the October/November Careers Fair, and planning any career/education related events through the year such as advertising talks, organising events with our careers team, and trips such as our recent tour of the NovoGene lab, but with a Biology & Zoology focus.

There’s a form in our Bio to apply, and we will vote online in a couple weeks (deadline TBC).

Thanks to our fab committee from this year 🥰 and we can’t wait to see what our new committee has in store for BioSoc! 💚

Hi Biosoc!! I'm sure everyone is busy preparing for the semester 2 exams. We have revision sessions running throughout the exam period so you have a space to study if you don't want to at home. It's also good chance to ask people from other years about their exam experiences, and your welfare officer will be there if you have any issues or just want a chat. Good luck everyone!!

Heyy guys! We’d like to invite you all to our final pub crawl of the year this THURSDAY!!✨

🌟 Trilogy!!

We’ve planned a chill pub crawl from London Brewhouse to end the night at Trils! Dress up as a tacky tourist (Hawaiian shirts, bum-bags, bucket hats, etc.) or in summer party outfits! ☀️🍉

Be ready for some challenges on the night!

If you’re coming to Trils after, make sure to grab a ticket, link for cheaper tickets will be posted soon (On whatsapp)!!!🎟️

Join us next week for our module advice sessions! Committee will be there to share their experience on different modules and types of third/fourth year projects. This is all informal with us sharing our opinion, if you have more detailed questions please reach out to the relevant lecturers/academics within SoBS 📚📝

At these sessions we will also be handing out the merch 🥳

Hey everyone! It’s AGM time 🥳

You all now have a chance to run to be part of the 2026/27 BioSoc Committee!

Please see the post for details of the roles available and the responsibilities for each one. You are welcome to apply for more than one role and where stated (x2) you can apply for roles in a pair with a friend.

The link to apply will be in our bio, make sure you get your application in BEFORE the deadline which is the 11th May.

During the AGM, each person applying will come up and give a brief speech about why they are applying and why we should vote them.

If you cannot attend for any reason, please state that in the application form, or let us know by the 11th May at the latest and we will read out a statement for you.

As always, if you have any questions let us know! We have tagged some committee members to their role, so you can reach out to them, or feel free to DM us or message us on WhatsApp.

Hey everyone!

We hope you’ve all had a fab Easter break 🐣 and are feeling well rested for the final stretch before the end of this year! 🥳

This is just a quick recap of our lab coat embroidery sessions that we ran before Easter, we had some great designs and everyone who attended had a lot of fun! 🥼🪡

We are planning to hold a few events before the dreaded exam season 🥲 we will put up some polls with different socials, exam revision session etc as we want to hear from you what you’d like from BioSoc before the end of this year!

Also keep an eye out for info about our AGM coming VERY soon 👀 if you have any questions about being on committee don’t hesitate to ask us :)

This is an in-person information session on the 29th of April which will look at routes into medicine, application processes, timelines for applications and gaining relevant work experience.

We hope to have some successful Medicine candidates with us to share their experience of the application process. There will be opportunity to ask questions throughout the session.

This session will also be running online on 07 May 2026.

The session is open to all current undergraduate students from any academic discipline.
