HoleSoc St Andrews

We hadn't mentioned this on our page until now (oopsy) but in case anyone wasn't aware, we have our AGM happening tomorrow at 4pm in Sandy's bar! (although we may have to switch location last-minute so keep an eye on our page for any updates!!!)

We would encourage anyone who's even a little interested in getting more involved with the society to apply for a committe position (we promise it's not much work!). Potential positions include President, VP, Social Media rep, Secretary, Merch rep and more!! You can run for more than one position, but note that you can only be elected to one of them. HoleSoc is a free-to-join society so you don't need a membership to run or vote in the AGM.

If you're interested in running, then please fill out the form below. If you don't fill out the form but you still want to run on the day then that's okay, but we would prefer it if you did this in advance so we have a rough idea of how many people are running!!

Hello hole digging enthusiasts!

Exciting news! We are thrilled to be introducing social memberships to the Hole Digging Society for the 2022-23 academic year. Memberships will cost £4 for the year and will give you access to a whole load of HoleSoc events and opportunities. We want to make it very clear that you will not need a social membership to come to our hole digging sessions! They will remain free to members and non-members alike. More details below:

- What will a HoleSoc social membership get me?

Memberships will allow you to come to our social events that we will be running throughout the year! We plan on having socials, movie nights (the first of which will, of course, be a viewing party of the movie Holes) and many other events! Our pub socials will be held at Aikman's, where all HoleSoc social members will be eligible for a 5% discount!
Social members will also be able to run for the upcoming HoleSoc committee! This will allow you to have a say in the future of the society as well as be more involved with the inner workings of HoleSoc. Committee applications will open on Monday 10th October. More info will be released about this soon.
Everyone who buys a HoleSoc social membership between now and Sunday 16th October at 1pm will be automatically entered in to a raffle for a free shovel! This is something you really don't want to miss out on.
We want to remind you that our biweekly-ish digging sessions will remain completely free for everyone regardless of whether you have bought a social membership or not.

- Why are we introducing memberships?

Shovels are expensive! Memberships will allow HoleSoc to continue to fund their digging events as well as have lots of other great social events throughout the year.

Hole dug 19/11/21. What a turnout! Despite the limited shovel capacity (we will have more shovels next time don't worry!) We managed to dig a serious hole! We estimated it was at least 5 feet wide and 5 feet deep. Despite the tide being quite far out by the end we still managed to hit water, which is no small feat on East Sands. We had an absolute blast being a part of Transfest this year and we hope to have another hole-digging event for Transfest next year too! We'll be posting about our next event very soon so keep an eye on our page over the next few days!
