University of St Andrews Earth Year

University of St Andrews Earth Year Earth Year University of St Andrews aims to increase awareness of climate change and drive long term, sustainable behaviour change.

We challenge staff, students, and the general public to engage more deeply with each month's environmental issues. On Saturday 25th March 2017 the University of St Andrews warmly invited all students, alumni, staff and the local community to join us for a fun evening full of green activities to mark Earth Hour โ€“ a spectacular and symbolic lights out event that focuses the worldโ€™s attention on our

planet, and the need to protect it. However, this year we are challenging ourselves and our local communities by looking beyond Earth Hour to Earth Year! Earth Year aims to build on from Earth Hour by increasing awareness of climate change amongst our communities and driving long term, sustainable behaviour change. Over the next year, every month will feature an individual environmental theme, set challenges for ourselves and an exciting and engaging programme of events to engage students, alumni across the world, staff and the general public more deeply with these issues. Leading this movement across St Andrews will be Transition St Andrews with the support of various departments and units throughout the university including the Estates Environment Team. Our aim is to educate and connect communities across the town and gown with the issues of climate change that we face and to challenge, motivate and inspire individuals to change their behaviours and attitudes with long lasting positive effects. As an international university we recognize our responsibility and commitment to our world on a global scale. We therefore warmly invite and challenge our alumni and supporters around the world to take part in this University of St Andrews movement. Please join us by engaging your local communities with Earth Year, sharing your stories and joining the conversation on social media using the tag . Our goal is to influence everyone to do something, however small. Small changes, global impacts.
