How can we not only meet the cost of living, but also address the true cost of living well? How do we support the needs of our community in a way that empowers them to make their own choices and not just survive but thrive? Read this section of my manifesto for some of my many ideas on how we can support students using the university's resources to better their lives!

By fostering an environment of ongoing dialogue and collaboration, I aim to ensure that our governance structures evolve in ways that directly benefit our community. One of my primary goals is to dismantle the barriers of understanding between students and the university's governing bodies. Leveraging my two-and-a-half years of experience on the University Court, I aim to serve as a bridge, offering guidance, information, and improved access to these governance structures.

✨ Championing intersectional diversity
✨ Amplifying voices from our BAME, LGBTQIA+, and other minority communities

The university's Rector is more than just a figurehead. It's a position that requires not only an intimate understanding of the university's ethos and governance but also a genuine connection with its student body.

My diverse roles within the university have gifted me with both. I've forged invaluable connections, gained insights into the administrative workings, and above all, listened to and understood the pulse of the student community.

When the time came for my graduation earlier this year, I stepped down from my roles as Rector’s Assessor and as the EDI representative in both the Schools of English and Philosophy.

Every position has been a profound learning experience, and my journey isn't over. I’m running for Rector out of deep affection for this University and a commitment to its students.

My second year at St Andrews, I got involved in my hall committee as Sports Representative.

The year after that, I was elected Senior Student of St Salvador’s Hall and Gannochy House, a role I held until 2021. It was also this time that I was appointed Rector’s Assessor under the last Rector, Leyla Hussein, and represented her at the University Court.

This is my journey so far.

I was born in Nigeria in 1998 and moved to Leicester when I was 3.

In 2017 I applied to St Andrews, and I’ve been here ever since.
