School of Geography & Sustainable Development, University of St Andrews We are a leading centre in Geography and Sustainable Development, integrating the study of the Earth system with its landscapes, peoples and places.

The School of Geography & Sustainable Development (SGSD), University of St Andrews, has an established international reputation for its research and impact, and also prides itself on the high quality of its teaching. SGSD occupies the Irvine Building which is located in the historic town centre near the University Library and overlooks St Andrews Bay. It houses all of the academic and postdoctoral

staff in the Department, along with laboratory facilities and most Geography teaching accommodation. SGSD was formerly the Department of Geography & Sustainable Development (DGSD)
