Members of the RSE Young Academy of Scotland at the University of St Andrews today launched their documentary focusing on the diversity of St Andrews staff experiences during the Covid-19 lockdown. “St Andrews Lockdown Tales” allowed colleagues from across the University community to explore, in their own voices, the broad spectrum of experiences during this extraordinary and testing time. The project focused on new knowledge gained from this completely unique human experience by acknowledging the diversity of challenges and how our colleagues have adapted. Our goals are to promote understanding of Covid-19’s different impacts on people from different backgrounds while showcasing the shared experience across our community and how it can lead to positive change.
All members of the project team, Nathan Bailey, Tracey Gloster, Ellen Garland and Ashley Pearson, were also all from the School of Biology, University of St Andrews. We're so proud!😁
Our Head of School, Frank Gunn-Moore, and Director of Postgraduate Studies (Research) Sophie Smout, also starred in the documentary.
Frank ended it with some very wise words.
"I think this what you're doing at the moment is a great idea. Getting people to be able to talk about their experiences. Hopefully, it shows people that you're never alone. Lots of people have problems, and if we do try and get these stories out there, what it does is go, OK. This person had to deal with this as well. How did they go about it and even sort of like reach out and say I need some help? Don't be afraid to ask!"
