Being able to show off your work is one thing, but being able to sit down and network with the people who could help kickstart your career is a whole different ball game.

That’s exactly what took place at Wednesday’s Big Portfolio Review for GradEX, ahead of the highly anticipated Creative Industries Degree Show.

16 industry and alumni guests joined our students for a morning of sharing portfolios, gathering advice and building the all-important connections that act as a bridge between university projects and professional careers.

Events like these are a necessity to boost the employability of students and prepare them for their next steps.

Thank you to all the industry representatives for joining us, and to our alumni guests for returning and continuing to support current students.

You will have seen that numerous subjects have already participated in the 2026 season, however we still have a range of showcases lined up. Let's take a look:

We’re wrapping up the week with another round of GradEX highlights. This time it was our Forensic Science students who delivered their final year projects.

Amongst our students there was a wide range of career aspirations, examples include:

It’s amazing to see so many different pathways and specialisms being named, proving that forensic science is more than just attending the odd murder scene.

Thank you to all of the industry and alumni judges who joined us to help celebrate the work our students.

Congratulations to our award winners and well done to everyone who presented their projects, you should be extremely proud of yourselves.

GradEX hit the halfway mark on Wednesday as our Psychology students impressed judges with their final year presentations.

Our industry guests included representatives from the following companies; C-Learning, Academics Limited, The Growth Company, and Enterprise Mobility.

Combined with various University of Staffordshire staff members, this event had the largest number of judges in this year’s sequence of celebrations so far.

When delivering his closing ceremony speech, guest judge and alumni member Jamie Smith expressed how impressed he was with students.

He even stated that if today was a job interview, “every single one of you would have walked away with the job”.

That level of praise shows just how spectacular our students are. We cannot wait to see where their degree’s take them.
