A little appreciation post for all our graduates that came back to see us last night - some from the last few years and others who graduated decades ago - we absolutely love to see you again at our degree show each year and to hear about the brilliant things you are all doing! Also wonderful to see staff members return from over the years to catch up too - our degree show is like one giant Fine Art family party in celebration of this years graduating students 💚🌞💚See you all again next year we hope!

So much hard work this week, getting our Degree Show up and looking great. We’re actually further on than these photos suggest - we’ve just been too busy to take any action shots! We did find time, however to spot Fine Art lecturer’s work in a degree show catalogue from decades ago! It’s a good job I never throw anything away!

Well done everyone. A great week’s work is done!

Day Two of set up and final spaces receiving a clear up/filler/sand and paint as each space gets ticked off we are closer to Exhibition Install - finally touches tomorrow and then Floor painting commences - lots of digging deep this next few weeks for our third years 💚🖼️🖌️

This week we waved farewell to our much valued and hugely respected colleague, Michael. Michael Safaric Branthwaite is our Associate Professor in Fine Art and has contributed immeasurably to the writing, teaching and reimagining, not only of BA Fine Art, but also of Art & Design Foundation and MA Contemporary Arts Practice. Not only is Michael an inspirational lecturer and artist - but also a miracle worker, when turning bits of wood into studio spaces!!. Over the last 16 years, he has influenced the practice of hundreds of students and enriched the lives of his colleagues considerably.

These images span these 16 years and the courses he was involved in. In addition to teaching, Michael also pioneered our exhibition programme at and organised countless trips, exchanges, external exhibitions and collaborations - in addition to an extensive research portfolio. His impact has been significant.

We will miss him immensely. Our loss is University North, Croatia’s gain and we wish him all the very best for his future adventures.
