๐Ÿงฌ๐Ÿ”ฌ WHAT A DAY! ๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿงฌ

A massive THANK YOU ๐Ÿ™Œ to the amazing Medical Science students and staff from King Edward VI College, Nuneaton, for joining us for todayโ€™s Biomedical Science outreach session! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ”ฌ

The students stepped into the shoes of Biomedical Scientists and Clinical Scientists, tackling a patient case scenario from the very start ๐Ÿ’ญ.

They created their own EUCAST disk diffusion plates ๐Ÿงซ and tested antibiotic discs to work out which treatment would be most effective for their patient and avoid antibiotic resistance!๐Ÿฆ

Next up was cell counting using a blood cancer cell line ๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿฉธ, followed by blood grouping their patientโ€™s sample to determine which donor blood groups would be safe for transfusion โค๏ธ๐Ÿฉธ

And the highlight for many... finding out their blood type! ๐ŸŽŠ๐Ÿ…ฐ๏ธ๐Ÿ…ฑ๏ธ๐Ÿ…พ๏ธ Students also took home personalised blood group keyrings ๐Ÿ”‘ showing both their blood type and just how rare it is in the general population ๐Ÿ“Š๐ŸŒ

It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm, teamwork, curiosity and future scientific talent all in one room ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿš€๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ”ฌ. Thank you for bringing such great energy and engagement throughout the day!

We loved having you with us and canโ€™t wait to see where your future careers in science and healthcare take you! ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’™
