I have not stressed this enough that if you want to go to nationals then you have to be signed up to the club, for the most part you all are. the two that havent will be messaged as they are ruining it for everyone else. but its also necessary for you to sign up to the club to come to it, if your name is not on the list below (taken as of yesterday evening) then you are no longer welcome to come to the club until you have your membership (its only £10 now guys, even for some alumni), ive noticed some major names missing. those who have signed up and paid for membership are....

michael bennett
adam bennet
nathan kerr
patrick hunt
steven chapman
kieran williams
james buckley
ashleigh dobson
rebecca agnew
megan parker
jacob holden
polly lovell parvin
jonathan lawson
nicholas portwood
graham forshaw
jonathan boddy
bob emmerson
edward glasper
michael smith
robin graham
charlotte bayliss
alex blundell

if you are not on this list but are sure you have signed up to the club then you need to sort it with cityspace. if you havent signed up yet please do so as it is unfair on all those who have.

For a bit of fun this year, I want to see your Halloween Pumpkins, Post a pic of you and your pumpkin and one of it lit in the dark. A winner will be announced the 8th of November!

As of this week you will need to get a swipe card from security (under the stairs to the right of the door) to get into prospect building and the club. This is easiest if you have your student card, security will ask you to fill in a few details from it and then give you a numbered card which is your responsibility until you return it. If you lose it you will be charged. If you dont have your student card yet then tell them that you are there for games club and they will tell you what to do from there. Please message or comment if you have any issues.

This upcoming sunday (the 17th) will be the elections for next years exec committee.

The places available are...

(To be filled by those who will be students next year ONLY)

PRESIDENT- Overseer of all, being the touchpoint for the rest of the exec, the members of the club and most importantly the sports office and university. Delegator and announcement maker. Looking after everyone.

DEPUTY/TREASURER- responsible for budget (or lack of), must be willing to get blood out of a stone or other such analogy. Help president.

SECRETARY- paperwork, online announcements, keeping other exec updated about everything etc.

(To be filled by anyone)

EVENTS- organisation of events etc. Help with nationals, suggest and encourage group trips and meals, conema or bowling etc.

PRESS - posters and leaflets design and distribution, freshers fayre organisation and ideas, links with stores and discounts

CUPBOARD KEEPER - responsible for keys, contents and such, willing to hit head against brick wall to get into our other cupboard at cityspace. Needs to be a regular and stay both sessions ideally.

Just some notes....

The main positions are not to be taken lightly, as its my third year ive struggled to balance uni and the club, it requires the willingness to sacrifice time and money. Ive spent as much time sorting things for the club this year as on my dissertation, and my blood sweat and tears have gone into it. But dont think its bad, its a great opportunity to wield power, to make a difference and to make great friendships. You need a firm hand, you will have to make decisions that wont make everyone happy. But its fun, hardwork but fun. Its a great experience, ive been events, secretary and president in that order and although its been difficult at times its been brilliant.

I should be around next year as i wish to do events again (with nationals being my metaphorical baby) but also to help in general wherever im needed especially in a smooth handover so you wont be chucked in the deep end.

Please make your intentions clear as to what you want to run as on here, if there are two or more running for a position then you will fight to the death until a successor is revealed (or make a speech) voting will take place via ballot on sunday so please tell me what your running as before then. The student positions must be filled.

Good luck....

Charlotte :)
