We’d like you to be polite. We know that sometimes things don’t go to plan and you’ll want to flag things up with us. But do remember, we’re human and the person monitoring the social media account is only trying to help. So are other people who use social media. We’d like you not be anti-social. We won’t tolerate swearing, threats or abuse online just as we don’t offline, any posts or comments that a defamatory or slanderous against an individual or those that will cause offence. We won’t deal with your query on social media. We’ll direct you to other channels instead. We’d like you not to be personal. If you’ve a complaint to make we’ll look into it. We’d like you not to spam or advertise. Our social media channels aren’t the place for followers to advertise. Making the same points over and over - otherwise known as spamming - isn’t for our social media. You’ll be better off contacting us another way so we can look into the issue for you. We’d like you to not over-share. If you’ve got an issue we’ll happily look into it. But be careful not to post private information about yourself or others. Of course, most of the time social media works fine but on the rare occasion where you don’t stick to the house rules, we use profanity filters which automatically hide offensive posts or comments, and we reserve the right to delete offending content and block you from contacting us through that route. We also reserve the right to contact the police.

We recently supported and the Connor Brown Trust to raise awareness of the dangers of carrying knives and promote safer communities.

Throughout the week, we delivered a range of activities:

✅Knife crime prevention workshops with young people
✅Knife crime awareness training for frontline staff from the council and partner organisations
✅Community patrols with the local police team in the Coalfields area of the city
✅Community safety and knife crime prevention activities around the bus and rail networks

The workshops for young people included themes of building confidence and making positive choices. The young people also learned about the consequences of knife crime and emergency first aid, equipping them with the relevant skills to save lives. We plan to deliver similar workshops to young people across the city in the coming months.

A key focus of the community patrols was engaging with residents and local businesses - listening to concerns and working together to improve safety. These efforts are part of our ongoing proactive approach to help keep our communities safe.

Find out more below about some of the week’s activities👇
