University of Sunderland Fencing Club The University of Sunderland Fencing Club, also known as Salle Avenger, is a satellite group of the Society for the Study of Swordsmanship.

Salle Avenger (the University of Sunderland Fencing Club) teaches historical swordplay. Our primary focus is the smallsword, the duelling weapon used throughout Europe from the late 1600s onwards. Salle Avenger also teaches Military Sabre, Rapier and other forms of historical swordplay.
