At Swansea College of Art, we’re proud of our artist-educators 🙌
Professor Sue Williams, our Programme Manager for Fine Art: Studio, Site & Context, is currently in an especially active period of her practice, with involvement in six major exhibitions and publications this summer, alongside her role as a selector for the Glynn Vivian Gallery Swansea Open 2026.
Her contribution to contemporary art has been recognised through numerous accolades, including the Gold Medal for Fine Art at the National Eisteddfod, reflecting her significant standing within the Welsh and international art world.
Sue’s ongoing professional activity reflects something we value deeply at SCA: staff who are active within contemporary art practice, and who bring that experience directly into their teaching. It means our students are learning within a studio culture that is connected, current, and shaped by real creative practice.
For our students, this kind of engagement matters. It offers insight into the realities of sustaining a creative career - developing work for exhibition, working with curators, responding to opportunities, and contributing to wider critical conversations in contemporary art.
