Charlie is doing the Civil Engineering degree-level course at New College Swindon University Centre to further his career in Quantity Surveying🎓 He said, "This is a good university experience with good people who want to help you succeed and give you all the tools to do so. I'm able to work alongside doing this course too!"

Level 3 Media Makeup student, Piper, is progressing on to the WorldSkills Regional Qualifier Heats for SFX makeup🎉

When asked how she felt about the competition, she said, "It's nice to know what I do has been noticed, but it's a bit scary at the same time. I used to practice SFX makeup at home before I started college because it looked fun on social media. It's good to learn new things here. I want to do bridal, prom or special effects in the future."

🎞️After four days of filming, five Film & TV BA (Hons) students wrapped up three years of studies on the set of “Disillusion of Time”. The production took place at various settings, including at the College campuses, Coate Water and in Portishead.

Students were being marked on specific areas of film, and got to hone in on their specialism, for example
🎬Shannon is a director
🖋️Kathryn is a writer/script supervisor
💡Anthony is a lighting engineer
🔉Nicole is a sound engineer
🎥Connor is the camera person and completes the final edit

Connor said, “Working on Disillusion of Time has pushed the crew to the limit. It has been an incredible project to be a part of."

Huge congratulations to carpentry apprentices Ollie and Charlie, who recently represented New College Swindon at the Skill Build competition at Moulton College. Both impressed with their precision, problem-solving and professionalism – and Charlie secured 1st place and a spot in the national finals this November! 👏
