The SPACE Celebrates Best Ever Key Stage Five Results!
Students at The SPACE (Somerset Performing Arts Centre for Education) at Monkton Wood Academy are celebrating the best ever results this specialist performing arts college has ever seen!
Course Director David Duthie said “We couldn’t be more delighted by this fantastic set of results! Our young people and their teachers have worked tirelessly to make such incredible achievements possible and I couldn’t be more proud!”
100% passed the UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing and Production Arts, specialising in either acting, dance or production arts (equivalent to 3 A-Levels), with 97% achieving merits or higher and an amazing 80% achieving the distinction grade (the highest possible). A distinction carries the same number of UCAS points as three A*s at A-Level.
In the Extended Project Qualification (equivalent to half an A-Level) 100% scored a B or higher, 71% were awarded an A or higher and an outstanding 29% achieved an A*.
Students are eagerly anticipating their varied progression routes which include drama and dance schools such as Trinity LABAN, Stella Mann, Wilkes Academy, Rose Bruford and Performers College, some will go universities including Chichester and Falmouth and some will enter employment directly.
These results put The SPACE in the top 10% of centres offering this qualification nationally.
The SPACE teaching team is readying themselves to welcome a new cohort of students in September and there are still a couple of places available!
