Volunteering Opportunity

The South East Dexter Cattle Group are offering an opportunity to gain practical experience with Dexter cattle and agricultural showing.

The group is fortunate to have a number of experienced Dexter cattle breeders and exhibitors who regularly attend county and agricultural shows throughout the South East.

They are therefore looking to connect with enthusiastic young people who may be interested in:

• Learning about Dexter cattle and rare breeds.
• Developing livestock handling skills.
• Gaining experience preparing cattle for shows.
• Learning ringcraft and showing techniques.
• Accompanying exhibitors to local and county shows.
• Building practical experience that may support future careers in agriculture, livestock management, veterinary sciences, or related industries.

This would provide an excellent opportunity for students and Young Farmers' members to learn directly from experienced breeders, gain hands-on livestock experience, and become involved in the wider agricultural community.

Support could range from occasional help at local shows to more regular involvement with a particular herd, depending on location and availability.
