Happy International Student's Day!🥳

We asked students from our Indian and Bangladesh societies to describe their time as an international student in one word... our favourite:

Bendigedig, meaning fantastic in Welsh!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

We're taking today to thank you for enriching our culture, our society and our classrooms, we’re so glad you’ve chosen USW as your second home🏡

🎆 Fireworks over Newport🎆

Did you know Bonfire Night started because a man named Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605 to get rid of King James I?
People in the UK celebrate every year on the 5th November with bonfires and fireworks, so keep an eye out on the skies tonight!⭐

✨ 96% of USW graduates are in Employment and/or Further Study 15 months after graduation (Graduate Outcomes Survey 2021/22)✨

That's why one of Aisyah's top tips for studying abroad is to connect with our careers service👏
Aisyah graduated in 2022 and has since launched her own clothing brand.

Here's her advice to those thinking of studying abroad✨

1. 💼 Engage with Careers Services: Take full advantage of the careers services offered at USW. They provide invaluable resources for building your resume, preparing for interviews, and networking with industry professionals. The support can help you lay a solid foundation for your career after graduation.

2. 📱 Build Your Social Media Presence: In today’s digital world, having a strong social media presence is crucial. USW encourages students to post and share their (fashion) work online, and this can significantly help you gain recognition. I started with just 300 followers on my business Instagram and now have over 6,000, which has been instrumental in my journey.

3. 🌐 Participate in Real-World Projects: Get involved in real-world projects and collaborations. These experiences not only enhance your skills but also make your portfolio more impressive to future employers.

4. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Connect with Your Peers: Your classmates will become an essential part of your journey. Build strong relationships with them and support each other. You’ll face challenges along the way, and having a supportive network can make a significant difference. I formed lasting friendships and created memorable experiences during my final year.

5. 🇬🇧Embrace the Culture: Studying in the UK is a unique experience, and it can sometimes be different from what you’re used to. Be open to exploring the culture, meeting new people, and adapting to your surroundings. I loved the convenience of transportation and enjoyed living independently, which made my experience enriching.

6. ✨ Don't Fear the Change: While studying abroad can be scary, it's important to remember that it’s one of the best experiences you can have. You will not regret taking this leap; it will push you out of your comfort zone and lead to incredible personal and professional growth.

Ready to take the leap? Join us this January/February👉 https://orlo.uk/NmvXx
