Meet Harvey 👋

After studying a Foundation Degree in Software Engineering, Harvey is now working as an IT Engineer here at the College, turning his skills into a career.

Having previously studied at and completing an IT Diploma at the college, Harvey chose to stay local for his degree. This meant he could remain close to family and friends, making the transition into higher education feel more comfortable and enjoyable.

Harvey credits the condensed timetable with helping him balance his studies alongside a part-time job, gaining experience while staying financially supported.

One of the highlights of his course was the flexibility to explore different areas of IT, including Cybersecurity and Networking, giving him a broader understanding of the industry and future career paths.

He also made the most of our Careers support services, which helped him build confidence, gain interview experience and ultimately secure his current role.

💬 “I’m really enjoying being able to apply the knowledge I learned and gain hands-on experience. It’s great to see how the systems I used as a student are managed behind the scenes.”

It was an emotional day for all involved as we celebrated how far they’ve come.

“It’s a really special moment as we celebrate the incredible achievement of our adult and mental health student nurses completing their BSc Nursing, with one last placement to go.
