It’s truly rewarding to witness this kind of change.

I remember a group of parents who initially felt overwhelmed and unsure about how to connect with their babies beyond the practicalities of caring for them.

They weren’t always confident in interpreting the quieter cues their babies were giving them.

Instead of simply concentrating on just what to do during massage, I encouraged them to start paying much closer attention to what the baby was communicating.

Was baby saying “I’m ready for more”?

“I need a break”?

“I’m enjoying this”?

Or simply, “I need you to notice me”?

As parents became more confident at recognising these cues, they became more confident in responding to their individual babies.

And that changed the experience completely.

I used to think baby massage was just about relaxation, a nice little activity for parents and babies.
But there was a moment when my understanding completely shifted.
